I have to do an interview soon about other people's job lives; the working world surrounding them.
I have no experience with jobs yet so my ideas are not very detailed (or realistic..). If I could choose, I would like to interview someone with a fun and exciting job like a writer, photographer, librarian, or something along those lines. Maybe even a teacher. I've lost all contact with my previous school teachers. And with so many college students trying to improve their grade, the teachers already have their hands full. So even thinking about interviewing one is what I'd call a lost cause.
I can't help but see that being a "mother" is also a job. And the only pay you get for it is either love or resentment (depends on the kids). A mother has to be willing to go the extra-length for her child (sometimes more than one). When she needs a job, she desperately needs it. I have heard some people say "If I didn't have kids, I wouldn't care what kind of job I get." or "If I didn't have kids, I wouldn't care about getting a job." Motherhood is a stressfull full-time job uinlike any other.
But moving away from the fields of parenting, my mind is blank in who to interview/what job to search for as the subject of my interview.
I am not familiar with the jobs of my family members, to be honest, I never really cared. If you'd like to know why, well.. all I can say is that once I have a comic book in my hand I hear and see nothing.
I suppose I could interview my bro or mom, but if I find something boring it's hard to work with. Well, I'm sure if I pay more attention to the subject at hand which is: to write my essay, compare notes from the interview to the information I obtained before, and use my new knowledge as an aid to life-related issues,
then I can't possibly get bored. (._.); <- this is an emoticon
If all else fails, I have some buds over the net who could help me through the use of instant messaging. I'm not sure if that's allowed though.. I don't want to take any risks. It'd be a shame to document everything and then it's not acceptable so I have to repeat writing the essay all over again. A family member. I might go with that choice.
Well nothing's definite until it's done.

Bytheway, the picture used this time is Sora from Kingdom Hearts.
If you're interested in seeing the full image, you can find it here in Digik's gallery. They carry many artbooks (mostly anime/manga/game-related ones, but they have some American ones too like "Disney").

Hi - I agree 100% that parenting is work! The "just a housewife" section in Terkel has some interesting thoughts about that. I wouldn't give up on the idea of interviewing a teacher - talk to me about possibilities, if you like.
